So, what’s your purpose in this life? Why has God made you? Are you to toil, slave, work, and die? Or is there more?

Isaiah 43:7 says, “Everyone who is called by My name, and whom I have created for My glory, whom I have formed, even whom I have made.” Here we find our ultimate reason for having been created, our supreme purpose if you will. It is for God’s glory. You see because God is love and He is all glorious, He has created us to lift up His great name and live for His glory. But how do we go about doing this?

We must recognize our need for Him. We need to come to a place where we realize that we fall far short of His holy standards and that all the self-help, philosophies, strategies and etc, can do nothing more than move a few emotions and create a temporal morality. It is by the cross of His dear Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, by which we must come and enter into His rest, His salvation, and His grace. You see, God will work out everything for the good to those who love Him and are called according to His purposes, but for this to be such, we must receive His dear Son, not by mere word, but in the reality of who He really is and for why He really died.

If you really desire to know your purpose on this earth, you have to realize it is for the God who created you. If you desire to know the God who created you, then His Son cannot be denied. If you wish to draw near to God, then you must believe that He exists.

But what if others hate you for the Christian faith? Know this, that is a promise of our Lord. Even Paul says the very same thing to Timothy. Paul said, “Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.” Although such a thing can be a hard statement, it is nonetheless true. But I assure you, you will grow close unto God and be given absolute joy if you treasure those words. If it were not so, why then would the Apostle Paul say, “Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ.” There was no one during that day with such a conversion as Paul’s nor did anyone at that time suffer so much for the name of Jesus Christ as Paul had.

If you have been thinking about why you are here or what is the purpose to your life, take heart, and seek the Lord of all glory. He is the only One you need; He is the only true grace that will radically change your life; His Son is the only One you need to know.
