US National Day of Prayer

US National Day of Prayer

First of let me say this, or maybe ask, who are we (totality of the US nation) praying to? What’s the point?

I absolutely struggle with days like this in our godless culture. Maybe not so much struggle with why, but struggle thinking about how the One True God, the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, The Only God who actually exists, He is not moved by all the words of carnal men and His name is not honored nor willingly glorified by our nation. This day is a sickening joke to our God, a holy, just, righteous, perfect and loving God. I cannot help but say, if we are not in prayer as a style of our professing Christian life, then what we need to do today is – repent.

Now, before many of you start yelling and stating that I am being judgmental, remember, judgement begins with the household of God – we need be examined first. Paul even exhorts the church in Corinth to do the same. Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Or do you not realize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you fail to meet the test!” 2 Corinthians 13:5 Also, keep in mind I understand and know that God is sovereign and He is in ultimate control – hence why we look like we do. Read Romans 1 and 2 for starters.

The verse below was given to Israel, but never forget, God does not change. Therefore, we must do the same.

“If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14

I posted this (below) on facebook earlier, it’s about all I can say today. Any more would cause me to sin. Take heed oh godless nations, your prayers will not be heard when you sit in your pride, arrogance and shake your fists at the Almighty God who displayed His grace upon the tree at Calvary’s hill.

National Day of Prayer – all I have to say.

1. To the Nation as a Whole
2. To us who profess Christ.

1. To the Nation as a Whole:
Psalm 2

2:1 Why do the nations rage[a]
and the peoples plot in vain?
2 The kings of the earth set themselves,
and the rulers take counsel together,
against the Lord and against his Anointed, saying,
3 “Let us burst their bonds apart
and cast away their cords from us.”
4 He who sits in the heavens laughs;
the Lord holds them in derision.
5 Then he will speak to them in his wrath,
and terrify them in his fury, saying,
6 “As for me, I have set my King
on Zion, my holy hill.”
7 I will tell of the decree:
The Lord said to me, “You are my Son;
today I have begotten you.
8 Ask of me, and I will make the nations your heritage,
and the ends of the earth your possession.
9 You shall break[b] them with a rod of iron
and dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.”
10 Now therefore, O kings, be wise;
be warned, O rulers of the earth.
11 Serve the Lord with fear,
and rejoice with trembling.
12 Kiss the Son,
lest he be angry, and you perish in the way,
for his wrath is quickly kindled.
Blessed are all who take refuge in him.

2. To us who profess Christ:

Part 1: Hebrews 2:1-3
2 Therefore we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away from it. 2 For since the message declared by angels proved to be reliable, and every transgression or disobedience received a just retribution, 3 how shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation?

Part 2: 2 Corinthians 11:3
But I am afraid that as the serpent deceived Eve by his cunning, your thoughts will be led astray from a sincere and pure devotion to Christ.

Part 3: Revelation 2:4
But I have this against you, that you have abandoned the love you had at first.

AMEN.
