Verses of Impact:
“God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world. And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power. When He had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become as much better than the angels, as He has inherited a more excellent name than they.” Hebrews 1:1-4
What an incredible way to start a letter to the suffering Hebrew saints! All I need say here is, It is Jesus; it is Jesus; it is Jesus! Oh what a wonderful Savior we have, that is if we have experienced the new birth of grace through faith and the redemption from sin that we once walked. It is Jesus!

What a Savior
by brother Mark Case – Mississippi, USA
The letter to the Hebrews is all about the Person and Work of Jesus, and how He and His work are far superior to the Old Covenant Priests and Priesthood. Chapter one breaks out right away proclaiming that while God has sent many messengers over the course of time, Jesus is far greater than all of them! He is even greater than the angels! What is more, God commands the angels to worship Him!
The first chapter of Hebrews presents an exciting, yet profound image of the Son Himself. Notice these accolades God gives to Him: the heir of all things; through whom God made the worlds; the brightness of God’s glory; and the express image of God’s Person! After reading that introduction about Jesus, one may imagine that everything that could be said, has been said; but not so! God the Father goes on from there to address Jesus as the Firstborn into the world, as LORD; and He even calls Him God! Then after naming His glorious attributes such as righteousness, everlasting, and unchangeable, He proudly presents Jesus with the seat at God’s own right hand! Wow!
Well, with chapter one the stage is set. Jesus Christ is the One above all others past, present, and future! And the New Covenant with its glorious Priesthood that He ushers in is far above the Old… eternally higher! He was the fulfillment of the Old Covenant types and shadows that were designed to fade away at His coming; and indeed they do fade in comparison!
What an introduction to Jesus! What a Son! What a Messenger! What a High Priest! And to imagine that by His power, we can become like Him! Hallelujah! What a Savior!
Hebrews 1:1-9 nuggets

God spoke through his prophets to our forefathers in the Old Testament many times. God making know his righteousness and his ways. Showing his love and his Judgments.
In these last days God speaks to us by his Son, for God says Jesus is superior to the prophets and the angels, He whom has been appointed heir over all things, he whom is the radiance of God’s Glory and the exact representation of his very being.
After he provided our salvation for our sins, our purification, he sat down at the right hand side of the Father in heaven. He radiates God’s glory the very essence of God’s nature. Through the Son the Father is revealed. He is eternal, for God has said of his son. “Your Throne O God shall last forever and ever.
May we rejoice and hold on to these truths looking forward to our full redemption in his son our eternal Lord and Savior. I cherish how he loves us so much he has provided a way of communication giving us access for Jesus to speak to us, many times through the Holy Spirit, I know we can trust him for he is the exact representation of the Father.
Blessing to all my brothers and sisters, Lynn
After Thoughts:
1. According to verse 2, when did the “last day’s” begin?
2. Think about how powerful and detailed the first four verses are, especially as an introduction to the Hebrew Christians of the day and the Jewish mindset that was their culture. Christ is everything and the fulfillment of the law. In application to your life, is Christ stamped upon you such that your life focus and walk with Him is truly to know Him and praise Him?
3. “He has inherited a more excellent name…”(vs.4) If His name be so majestic, powerful and excellent, then has His name branded you such that when people think about you they think about Christ? Are you seen as meek, humble and loving? Is this a deep reality or a shallow faded mask?
4. In your Christian life, are you known more by the ministries you are involved in, the amount you post and are liked on facebook, and/or by a mental theology of big words, or are you known by the style of your life, prayer, piety and a love for the souls of those God has created?
“No man is greater than his prayer life. The pastor who is not praying is playing; the people who are not praying are straying. The pulpit can be a shop window to display one’s talents; the prayer closet allows no showing off.”
“The New is in the Old concealed, the Old is in the New revealed.” (where I first heard it)
