Recently I have been privileged to meet many men from several different churches in the Bartlesville area. The amazing part is that our Lord is only just beginning to call us together (see some of what happening below). There is a great need for the men of our community to rise up to the truth and find out just where we really stand in regards to our Lord (2 Corinthians 13:5).

“The coming revival must begin with a great revival of prayer. It is in the closet, with the door shut, that the sound of abundance of rain will first be heard. An increase in secret prayer with ministers will be the sure harbinger of blessing.” -Andrew Murray

Although we in Bartlesville do seem to have so many wonderful ministries pouring into the world, (Voice of the Martyrs, Strategic World Impact, Grace International Missions, Bibles for China, [coming soon, Charity Centre Kenya US Headquarters] just to name a few), we cannot rely on local ministries, our well-kept church buildings, our Sunday attendance, nor even the “quietness” of our town as a measuring stick. We are not called to compare ourselves in our walk with Christ, nor in regards to our town, to anyone else. Our comparison lies before us and Christ, one-on-one. You see, “if we say we have fellowship with Him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.” (1 John 1:6)

When I look at Christ, I see a man of fervent prayer (Hebrews 5:7, 8), a man of sorrows (Isaiah 53:3), a man who wept (Luke 19:41; John 11:35, 20:11), a man concerned for His followers (John 17), for He was absolutely passionate to do and fulfill the will of His Father unto the very end (Matthew 26:39). You see, if we must compare ourselves in any way, then we must do so biblically and therefore we must compare ourselves to the One we profess to follow, Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. It is time we Rise Up O’ Men of God!
