A Revival With No Application?

A Revival With No Application?

It seems as if everyone wants a revival of some sort or another, and yet it also seems as so very few want a personal cutting of their own sin and pride. If the word of God is like a fire, like a hammer that crushes rocks (Jer. 23:29) and sharper than any two-edged sword (Heb. 4:12-13), then shall we not be the first to be pounded, cut and formed into more and more of the likeness of Christ and convicted to put to death the deeds of the flesh (Rom. 8:13)? Should the word be merely an external fashioning and polishing of the cup? God forbid! May our hearts be laid open bare to the light of Christ and the conviction of the Holy Spirit. If we want to see God move, then we first need a cleansing; otherwise, we cannot see clearly to remove the speck from our brother’s eye as a log blocks our view and obscures our accuracy and motivations.
