The Terrible Impact on the Christian Life of Being Busy

What a timely article. One thing we do in our home is to fight heavily against all the running around, especially when others, even well meaning Christians, try to put upon us extra-biblical demands. I am thankful for encouraging words like this. Let us stand resolved to simply stop trying to “do” everything and be resolved to simply “be” a people, set apart for the glory of God, to walk with Him, commune with Him and to be a “living” and obedient testimony to our Great God and the salvation to which we claim. Let us take the Apostle Paul’s advice, “Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you—unless indeed you fail the test?” 2 Corinthians 13:5 If we are unwilling to do so, then it may very well be we ourselves who fulfill Jesus’s prophecy, “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.’” Matthew 7:21-23
