As I pray and ponder all the things that goes on the world today, and then do the same regarding my life, and the present condition regarding the professing church in our culture, I have to ask, “Just how Christocentric am I?” Am I visibly marked by Christ in a way that the people at my work, in my family, in public are drawn or repelled to or from Christ? What about in the church gathering or even in private? Or are there evidences that the world has marked my motivations, my character and my very person? I have to ask myself, “What are the intentions of my thoughts?” As I talk, as I walk, as I think, is Christ ever so thick upon my mind and my life that I first consider His commandments, His grace, His thoughts, His ways, and His concerns for my motivations? Then, from my motivations, what is the actual content of my actions and my speech?

Would we dare ask, as a local church body, are we Christocentric in what we do, how we do it, what we say? If yes, if no, what biblical evidence do we have in proving our answer? Do we do and say everything possible to propel others onward and upward to Christ alone? Do we have mere mental ascent alone or do we “weep between the porch and the altar” (Joel 2:17) for the bride’s holiness and the Groom’s glory and intimate walk? Do we weep for the lost and cry out like our Lord (Hebrews 5:7-8)? Has innovation become our idol; has the power of God been traded for pragmatism? I wonder, just how Christocentric are we? How Christ marked am I?

With so many competing voices today, let us strive to hear our Lord clearly, shunning the false prophets who guide us in pragmatic humanism and yet deny the weightier matters of God’s glory, the propitiating work of Christ, and the true grace and love of God.
