Many of you have followed some of my past posts on Facebook regarding the kitchen makeover we are doing in our new home. Now, this is typically not something I would post on my blog page, but I got to thinking, especially since the breaking news that we are expecting our 6th child, that I need to post more than just pictures. Here is why. (We are still finishing up a few cabinet doors and a few details – LOL. All pictures below.)
In the book of Deuteronomy it says,
“Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.” Deuteronomy 6:4-9
Did you catch that? We are to give all of our might to what? To Whom? How shall we teach them? You see the reason I have decided to post our kitchen make-over pictures here, and comment, is because I need to encourage believers that our love, that is the focus of our lives, is not to be on anything or anyone but God, through Christ. You see, our boast is to be that we “know and understand God” (Jeremiah 9:23-24). In everything we do, in everything we say, in every time of our life, we are to be God-honoring, exult in Him and boast that He is our God. Our story needs to be shared in everything we do and to be made known to others, not only for others, but to remind us of what the Lord has done in our lives. Look at why God had Joshua set up the 12 stones in Joshua 4:1-7. “So these stones shall be to the people of Israel a memorial forever” (vs. 7).
So I share this for a two-fold reason, first, so that in everything we do, we would honor and exalt The Lord God; secondly, to remind us all, as interesting as it is to see pictures of outward transformation, it is much more important that we would focus on Christ so that we would have an inward transformation that leads to outwardly affecting every area of our life. For the outside of the cup is never as important as the inside (Matthew 23:24-26).
I totally credit my wife for almost all of the design ideas and for doing a lot of work in this project! I have been very busy working 2 jobs the past several months and have not been able to complete much of the detail work. She is also great at color matching and design!
Peace and blessings all!
