Eye on Christ – The Uniqueness of Jesus: His Dual Nature

The Uniqueness of Jesus: His Dual Nature

cropped-be-still.pngAs we strive towards fixing our eyes on Christ, one of the distinct truths that separates Jesus from all other religious figures is the fact of His unique duality of nature. It is important for us to have, both, a basic knowledge of His reality, and to continually be about the learning, growing and walking with Him in our reality. For in viewing, would that we become humble, trained, refreshed, empowered and completely awestruck by Him personally.

As we move forward, let us consider the passage below.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him was not any thing made that was made.” John 1:1-3

The first unfathomable reality of His dual nature is the truth that He is indeed fully God and has always been for all eternity, past, present and future. He was not only present during the creation, but “all things” were “made through Him” and also “for Him.” (Colossians 1:16) And not only this, but He “remains the same.” (Hebrews 13:8) For in this, He alone is positioned in such a way no other man may claim, for in this distinct uniqueness, all the “fullness of God was pleased to dwell.” (Colossians 1:19) Amid His reality of being fully God, He also was in duality fully man.

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen His glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1:14

The second unfathomable reality of Jesus Christ is that He would humble Himself and become a man like us. “...though He was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.” (Philippians 2:6) Jesus was fully God and fully man. In His dual nature, being both 100% complete, He becomes most unique indeed. The Christ, “full of grace and truth,” became a man – “for the grace of God has appeared.” (Titus 2:11)

What a powerful reality – Jesus Christ appeared and came to us, having been made manifest; the very Son of God, God with us; who appeared to us and with us; ‘grace and truth revealed through Jesus Christ;’ the very One who would save us from our sins. The people ‘have seen a great light’ and ‘as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God.’ For only in Him is found the way unto the One True God – ‘the way, the truth and the life.‘” (The Foothills of True Grace, pg. 1; download / purchase)

As we look to Jesus, “the Founder (Author) and Perfecter of our faith,” (Hebrews 12:2) let us never forget His unique dual nature. Let us never forget our place in God’s economy. May we be continually, and in increasing measure, be made more humble and absolutely astounded by our “Lord and Savior.” (John 20:28; Titus 2:13; Romans 10:9)

Keep looking deeper and deeper into the vast grace of our great God.
