Merry Christmas

I know that many of my friends are Christians, many are not, a few do not celebrate this particular season at all because of the many ties to paganism, not to mention that Jesus’s birth date is really not fully known. As a matter of fact, the early church did not seem to celebrate His birth at all.

Having said this, we know this to be true:

One person esteems one day as better than another, while another esteems all days alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. The one who observes the day, observes it in honor of the Lord. The one who eats, eats in honor of the Lord, since he gives thanks to God, while the one who abstains20161208_091153, abstains in honor of the Lord and gives thanks to God.” Romans 14:5-6

Why do I say all of this, well, let our focus, regardless of day or month or season, always be about Jesus Christ. For “the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.” (John 1:14) Let the one who knows the good he ought to do, do it, for if he does not, he is the one who sins (James 4:17); this will bust apart loads of legalistic bondage.

Let us this year be witnesses of Christ’s amazing work of grace. Let us be personally obedient as we must be, but also let us lay down the bitterness of legalism that condemns and robs us of true Joy.

So with all this said,

Merry Christmas from the Strang family!
