The enemy always conspires, consults, steals and twists so to deceive us, rob us of true joy and lead us on any path away from Christ. And I am not just talking about Satan, that ancient serpent of old who seeks to steal, kill and destroy – at times silent as a snake and again like a roaring lion – but I am talking about his workmen who carry out the deeds of darkness. Yes, humans do conspire and carry out pure evil conspiracies of all kinds.
The enemy will often take the truth, twist the narrative, and launch an accusatory and retaliatory attack against those who are living out and wielding the truth of God’s Word. For instance, Satan has even taken the concept of the sword and trowel from the Scriptures and has twisted it into a perverted form of usage for the Masons. Fortunately, C.H. Spurgeon used it correctly, and shall I say, in a God honoring and Christ exalting fashion. As a matter of fact, you can still get the Sword and Trowel Magazine today.
Let us consider, can we say like our Lord, knowing the full context of Scripture, “It is also written...”? Do we know the Scriptures, and not like the seven sons of Sceva who were without reality and power and grace, being left with mere rote mental ascent? Has the “morning star” risen in our hearts? For the days ahead will be of such an evil and great tribulation, mixed with tremendous deception, that “if those days had not been cut short, no human being would be saved. But for the sake of the elect those days will be cut short.” (Matt. 24:22)
May we not be carried away in ignorance nor consumed by the blinding and most alluring displays of deception that seeks to steal away our hope, joy and intimate focus of walking with our dear Lord and Savior. And if this you have yet to truly, deeply and most authentically experience such peace, cry out to Him until He is found and He becomes your most precious value in this present life.
