JESUS THE CHRIST | A SIGN of BLESSING and OPPOSITION

Merry Christmas!

Think about this for a moment, Jesus, the very prophesied Christ, is both a blessing to one and opposition to another. You either have a desire for Him or you do not. You can be emotionally charged, celebrate festivities, or even be zealous, superstitious, and legalistic regarding ‘religious affairs’, yet be on the side of opposition to Christ. We know this to be true as Jesus declares of those who think they are being blessed but are really in opposition as we see in Matthew 7:21-23.

So, consider, by what reality, by what biblical test, by what proof have I to stand upon regarding the ‘sign’ that Christ is to me? Eternity hangs in the balance, and until we really can embrace John 3:16, we must understand, unless the grace of God, by the faith of the Author and Perfecter, is wrought about in our lives, John 3:36 stands as our reality.

Good News of Great Joy – A Sign of Blessing

Luke 2:8-14

In the same region there were some shepherds staying out in the fields and keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord suddenly stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them; and they were terribly frightened. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people; for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is [e]Christ the Lord. This will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” And suddenly there appeared with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased.”

A Sign to be Opposed – Revealing the Heart

Luke 2:34. 35

And Simeon blessed them and said to Mary His mother, “Behold, this Child is appointed for the fall and rise of many in Israel, and for a sign to be opposed— and a sword will pierce even your own soul—to the end that thoughts from many hearts may be revealed.”

May this be a time where your heart is searched, reality found, and humble response of repentance granted.
