I wanted to be sure to share this with you all. My thoughts below was first published on our new initiative, Rebinders for Bibles Around the World. Read, be challenged, sign up for the newsletter/blog, and share, share, share. Blessings all!
First of all, I want to welcome you to our website. Simply stated, our goal is three-fold: 1.) Glorify God 2.) Raise awareness 3.) Advance the kingdom. We aim to get Bibles into the hands of as many people around the world as possible, not by ‘re-creating the wheel,’ rather by coming along side those who are already carrying out this work. We have provided a starting list of organizations for you to consider helping in their endeavors of providing Bibles and advancing the Gospel. Learn about their work, pray, and respond. For in this way, and regardless of financial amount, we can all help to provide even just one Bible to those who are in great need. Consider Jesus’ words in Mark 12:43, 44 below.
And he called his disciples to him and said to them, “Truly, I say to you, this poor widow has put in more than all those who are contributing to the offering box. For they all contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty has put in everything she had, all she had to live on.”
Why did we launch this initiative?
Ever since the grace of God was wrought about in my life and I was made new, I was exposed to the persecuted church. Before this time I had never heard of such a thing. At first I could not grasp the idea of men, women and even children being horribly treated because of the Gospel of Christ. Many of these people had never even seen a Bible. And yet, there I was (here I am) living, by the providence of God, in tremendous affluence and prosperity (more than I even knew at the time), with a brand new study Bible, books on how to live as a Christian, and in church buildings with such padded comforts to rock nearly anyone to sleep. And even as I attended various local church meetings (I was traveling extensively in healthcare), most pastors, if any, ever even spoke of such suffering – whether this was due to ignorance or willful defiance I do not know.
Now, nearly 22 years after first coming to the Lord, I still cannot shake the picture of that first V.O.M. (Voice of the Martyrs) magazine of the young Chinese Christian girl who was horribly scarred from her torture and burns. Her smile alone, along with her story and profession of Christ, burned a bright spot into my mind – what joy, peace, and perseverance the Lord had given her and she let shine forth!
Nearly 2 years ago I started basic Bible rebinding, due to my love of old books and well built Bibles, and due much to brother Diego Caloca (my previous review). Taking this into account, along with all that I have read of the persecuted church over the years, plus staying up-to-date regarding our brothers and sisters in Christ in many other countries, I cannot but help to see the absolute great need to do something more than merely praying, I must do something, although I have little resources to offer. Over the years, the passages below, and this simple tract, Others May, You Cannot, have been a humbling reminder and challenge for me to respond to the Lord.
Scriptures to Ponder
“Behold, this was the guilt of your sister Sodom: she and her daughters had arrogance, abundant food and careless ease, but she did not help the poor and needy.”Ezekiel 16:49 NASB 95
“Everyone to whom much was given, of him much will be required...”Luke 12:48 ESV
“Remember those in prison as if you were bound with them, and thsoe who are mistreated as if you were suffering with them.”Hebrews 13:3 BSB
“…doing nothing from selfish ambition or vain glory, but with humility of mind regarding one another as more important than yourselves...”Philippians 2:3 LSB
“And let us consider how to spur one another on to love and good deeds.”Hebrews 10:24 BSB
“Some were tortured, refusing to accept release, so that they might rise again to a better life. Others suffered mocking and flogging, and even chains and imprisonment. They were stoned, they were sawn in two, they were killed with the sword. They went about in skins of sheep and goats, destitute, afflicted, mistreated— of whom the world was not worthy—wandering about in deserts and mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.”Hebrews 11:35b-38 ESV
“Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.”James 4:17 KJV
Praise God a small group of brother have embraced this for themselves and have encouraged me to move forward with this website. By the grace and providence of God, they have come along side this project. I am humbled to be getting to know these highly skilled brothers and men who treasure the Scriptures. Learn more about some of these brothers here.
Consider the words of the founder of HeartCry Missionary Society, Paul Washer:
If we are strong, we are strong to help the weak.
If we have opportunity of an education, we help those of our brothers and sisters who have had no opportunity.
If we have wealth, it is for our brothers and sisters who have none.Paul Washer, “Comprehending God’s Love” , 2022
Dear reader, please hear what I have to say, by the love of God and in humility of mind, please take my simple words to heart – let not my burdens, my convictions, my passions become a stumbling block for you! I do not want you to do anything based off of mere emotions nor damning legalisms; rather, pray for yourselves, seek the Lord with a upright and contrite heart, ask Him what He would have of you in providing even one Bible for someone who desires to have their very own copy of God’s Word, or even those who have never heard the saving and freeing Gospel of Christ Jesus. Consider the many avenues we have provided.
If you are a Bible rebinder, and/or you are a reviewer of Bibles, please consider reaching out to us and having your website placed on our links page. Once we have added you to our site, we will then send you our logo to share on your website or social media pages.
Peace and blessings all.
Sincerely, Jeremy B. Strang
