The post below is from Greg Gordon, friend and founder of http://www.sermonindex.net. Let us fall into the hands of the Lord, for his mercy is great; but do not let me fall into human hands. – 2 Samuel 24:14 It is a simple truth yet very important and David recognized this when he failed before … Continue reading Lacking Mercy Before A God of Great Mercy

Last Saturday at our prayer meeting, we opened with Psalm 89:27-37. God’s faithfulness to David and Israel is astounding. Even more so, God is faithful to His Son and those who would take up their cross and follow after Him. It is my hope and prayer that you find incredible joy and peace and praise … Continue reading God’s Faithfulness and Correction
Often we forget, or for many who have never learned, that Jesus Christ came, bringing salvation and a powerful grace, crying out some of His last words on the cross, “Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?” (Matthew 27:48) When He cried out these words, He must have snapped the attention of every religious person in the crowd that surrounded the cross. For in these words we find Jesus “The” Christ fulfilling and actively carrying out the prophecy of Psalm 22, into Psalm 23, and with might and splendor Psalm 24.
This Christmas I urge you to read Psalms 22, 23, 24 in light of this season. For Christ came as the perfect prophet, the perfect lover of men’s souls, the perfect sacrifice for our sins.Continue reading “Christ Came For This Reason”
Praying, Weeping & Loving
Now we come to the chapter where the men of God stand out. We come to the place where the real work in Christ must take place in the individual life. The place of war, the place of fellowship, the place of brokenness, the place of contrition, the place of being built up, the place where God delights to dwell with His children.
“It happened that while Jesus was praying in a certain place, after He had finished, one of the disciples said to Him, ‘Lord, teach us to pray just as John taught his disciples.’”
I find it interesting that the disciples never asked for more ministry. They never asked how to reach the lost, how to cast out demons, how to speak in tongues, how to grow their followers, how to strategically do missions. No, they asked, “Lord, teach us to pray.” Continue reading “Praying, Weeping, and Loving”

We need to continually be given co-equally to a growing knowledge of God and to the true grace of God; thus so we will grow in sanctification and grow in the ‘agape’ love of God; thus so that we will deplore our own sinfulness, repent and carry the true love of God to ALL people, … Continue reading Growing
